Part 2: Step-by-Step Production Process at Roggewood
Creating a board that passes strict 48-to-72-hour boiling tests requires total quality control across seven critical factory steps:
Step 1: Veneer Peeling & Rotary Drying
Fresh logs are rotary-peeled into thin veneers (typically 1.2mm to 2.2mm thick). The raw veneers are passed through industrial roller dryers to reduce moisture content down to 8%–12%.
* Why it matters: If veneer moisture is too high, steam pockets will form during hot pressing, causing internal Delamination or "blistering."
Step 2: Core Selection & Repair
Dry veneers are sorted by grade. For high-tier waterproof panels (such as Marine Plywood or Formwork Film-Faced boards), workers perform core composition and jointing to ensure tight, gap-free inner plies.
Step 3: Automated Glue Spreading (WBP Resins)

Step 4: Layup (Cross-Lamination)
Trained operators lay up the glued veneers manually or via automated lines, strictly alternating the grain direction of each layer at 90 degrees.
Step 5: Pre-Pressing (Cold Pressing)
The stacked veneers undergo high-pressure cold pressing for 15–30 minutes. This flattens the stack and allows the resin to tacky-bond the plies together into a stable "pre-board," making handling easier and preventing core displacement during hot pressing.
Step 6: High-Temperature Hot Pressing
The pre-pressed panels are loaded into multi-daylight hydraulic hot presses.
* Temperature: Heated up to 120°C–140°C.
* Pressure: Applied at 1.0 to 1.5 MPa depending on wood density.

Step 7: Calibration, Sanding & Surface Coating
* Sanding: Panels are double-side sanded with heavy-duty wide-belt sanders to achieve uniform thickness tolerance (e.g., ±0.5mm).
* Film Overlaying (Optional): For film-faced concrete formwork boards, a phenolic-impregnated paper film is heat-bonded to both surfaces during a secondary hot-press cycle.
* Edge Sealing: All four edges are sprayed with multi-coat waterproof acrylic paint to seal end-grain pores against water penetration during shipment and jobsite handling.
Quality Inspection: The Boiling Water Test
